St Thomas More is a wonderfully friendly, hardworking and successful school in the beautiful spa town of Buxton.

There are just under 400 pupils on roll in this popular and successful 11 to 16 comprehensive school. The school serves all areas of the High Peak. Children also travel from across the borders of Staffordshire and Cheshire to be part of our school community. Approximately 60% of our pupils are Catholic, but whether of the Christian faith, other faiths or no faith, the children are very proud of their school.

Our 2014 GCSE results were down on previous years but there were still some fantastic results to be proud of - out of the cohort of 77 students, 71.4% have left St Thomas More with 5 or more A* to C grades; 58.4% including English and Maths. Every student left with at least 1 pass at GCSE and 97.4% left with 5.  This year as been a difficult one for this year group who have had to endure last minute changes due to alterations in education policy, but they leave St Thomas More to go to the post 16 providers of their choice in a good position.  Some notable exceptional performances came from Ellie Collins who achieved 5A*s and 5As; Annie Guthrie who achieved 5A*s and 5As; Phil Etchells who achieved 7A*s and 3As; Andrew Oldfield who achieved 8A*s and 2As; Sorcha Heelan who achieved 9A*s and 1A.
