Derbyshire Literature Challenge 2013

St Thomas More School takes second place in this year’s Derbyshire Literature Challenge on Wednesday 22nd May 2013.

Derbyshire Literature Challenge 2013

Well done to the team who took second place in this year’s Derbyshire Literature Challenge on Wednesday 22nd May 2013 - Rebecca Marrow (8F), Ewan Kilpatrick (9F) Ellena Taylor (9F) and Niamh Macnamara (9C)

This is the fourth time students from St Thomas More have competed in the challenge. Our record is quite impressive, with previous wins in 2010,2011 and second place in 2012,2013.

Twenty teams of up to four students from schools all over Derbyshire pitted their wits in the competition’s final at Tupton High School. There were ten rounds altogether with 100 questions on books ranging from classical literature to modern children’s tales.

The winning team was Highfields School from Matlock (77.5 points) with St Thomas More Catholic School coming a close second place (76 points). This score was almost the same as last year’s score when we missed first place to Highfields School by three points.

Well done to the team!
