St Thomas More Catholic School (Science College) Supports National Science Week ............ With a day of practical activities from looking at various animal design and defence attributes, working in teams constructing giant tetrahedrons, to designing, creating and flying gliders. Students enjoy and learn about the real world through 'learning by doing'.
For Science week 2014, both Science and Technology departments worked together to build a practical wind tunnel.
The objective was to give students a more in depth understanding and appreciation of aerodynamics when applied to their own project designs.
Being able to visually see the benefits of optimising laminar flow with varying design criteria, this also underpins knowledge and understanding in many other subject areas.
