For the second year, St Thomas More English Department Hosts the 2014 Junior Literature Challenge for local primary schools.
St Thomas More Catholic School hosted its own Junior Literature Challenge on July 2nd for local primary schools. The event took place in order to help celebrate National Book Week and the winning shield was presented by local author, Kerstin Morrison. Many congratulations to the winning team, the ‘Fantastic Four’ from St Anne’s School. Buxton Juniors took second place in the closely fought competition, which tested the students’ knowledge of children’s fiction, writers and nursery rhymes.
Students at St Thomas More School have an impressive track record with the Derbyshire Literature Challenge for secondary schools and the international ‘Kids’ Lit’ competition. They were very keen to run their own event to celebrate the enjoyment of reading. The event was a big success and all participants were presented at the end, with a certificate by the Headteacher at the school, Mr Brendan Hickey.
