I am not a Catholic, is it worth applying to join St Thomas More Catholic School?
St Thomas More is a Catholic School but more than 40% of our pupils are not Catholic. Many pupils are Christian but we have children who come from families with no religious affiliation and they enjoy an extremely good education. We would however expect all pupils and parents to respect our faith and be supportive of our ethos which is founded on Catholic principles. The Published Admission Number (PAN) increased from 80 pupils to 90 pupils from September 2014 to allow more pupils to be admitted to the school.
How do I apply for a place at St Thomas More Catholic School?
You need to apply through the Local Authority. You can apply for a school place online at www.derbyshire.gov.uk/admissions or by telephone by ringing 08456 058 058. You will also need to complete a Supplementary Information Form and return it to us here at school. You can download a copy of this form from our website by clicking here. If you live outside Derbyshire, you will need to make the application through your home council.
Why do I have to fill in a Supplementary Information Form to apply to St Thomas More?
As a Voluntary Aided School, if the number of applications is greater than the number of places available, we are responsible for ranking applications according to our admissions criteria. To be able to do this, we need more information than the normal application form gives: for example if there are any religious connections. Without this information, your child may be placed in the wrong category and miss out on a place. Under new regulations, this form only needs to be completed for those applying for faith based reasons. If however, you do not include his information and your child is baptised within a Christian faith, they may be placed in the incorrect category.
What are the admissions criteria for St Thomas More Catholic School?

We are consulting on changes to our admissions arrangements which will take effect for the academic year 2020-21. What is the deadline for applications?
All applications (including the supplementary form) should be completed by the 31st October 2018 for September 2019 entry. Late applicants may miss out on a place of their choice. For September 2020 the deadline is 31st October 2019.
