Meet Mr Linney
My name is Mr. Linney and I’m the librarian here at St Thomas More Catholic School and I’m delighted to welcome you to our new library.
It’s been a long time coming but finally we’re ready to unveil the new library. Our library has nearly 6000 books available to borrow ranging from brand new fiction to classics for students seeking a challenging read.
Whilst at school, I struggled to use the library. I enjoyed reading and was a good reader but I was never encouraged to venture outside of what I was comfortable with. That was until a new English teacher pushed me to read Far From the Madding Crowd by Thomas Hardy. From there I was hooked on trying new books and challenging myself with reading.
I went on to study English Literature as degree at Edge Hill University and later on studied a Masters in English Literatures as well. I have also taught English as a Second Language in South Korea.
Reading is the most important skill that you can learn at school, it’s my goal to help all the students at St Thomas More find something enjoyable to read. There is a book out there for everyone and I’ll help you all to find it, if you’re willing to try something new.
I look forward to meeting you all and talking about books.
