The New Grading Systems
The government are introducing a new grading system for GCSEs. In addition, from September 2015, the government removed agreed national curriculum levels.
Many schools have continued to use national curriculum levels to help with transition to new assessment and grading systems.
The new GCSE grading system will come into effect for English and Mathematics GCSE results in the summer of 2017 and for other GCSEs the following year. (Apart from Technology which will be a year later.)
The grading system will run from grades 9 to 1 (instead of A* to G) with grades 9 to 5 being classed as 'good passes'.
To help with this transition and in order for all members of the school community to take on board the new grading changes, the school will be adopting this system for all years from September 2016.
Below are two charts which it is hoped will help parents in understanding the equivalent grading systems.
